The long-running British TV drama Shameless is being adapted for Showtime with William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum leading the cast. The premium cable channel said it’s ordered 12 episodes of the series about a Chicago blue-collar family. The executive producers are the drama’s original creator, Paul Abbott, and John Wells, whose credits include ER and The West Wing. Allison Janney (The West Wing) will have a recurring role. Production begins late this summer. An air date was not announced.
