Synopsis:
Andrew Lloyd Webber's sumptuous musical comes to the screen in this film adaptation. Deformed since birth, a bitter man known only as the Phantom lives in the sewers underneath the Paris Opera House. He falls in love with the obscure chorus singer Christine, and privately tutors her while terrorizing the rest of the opera house and demanding Christine be given lead roles. Things get worse when Christine meets back up with her childhood acquaintence Raoul and the two fall in love. The Phantom decides to kidnap her and imprison her with him in his lair. Raoul is now the only one who can stop him.
About Emmy's Role: This is definitely Emmy's breakthrough role. She plays the female lead, and sings and acts at the same time which she found very challenging. That role (although she almost missed the screen test!) earned her many awards, including a Golden Globe nomination.
Make-Up by Jenny Shircore Foundation: London-based, custom-blend make-up company, Cosmetics a la carte, provided the foundation used by Shircore to enhance Rossum's naturally glowing skin. The shade used was Ivory.
Eyeshadow: Shircore used a variety of colors on Rossum's eyes for this fresh look, including Mac Ivory Powder Base, Mac in Peach Shimmer on her lids, Cosmetics a la carte's Pink Ice Sheen on the brow-line and Urban Decay's Midnight Cowboy over entire lid and brow.
Eyeliner: Cosmetics a la carte's Black eye-shadow mixed with a little with water was used in place of eyeliner. Shircore created a very thin line, no longer than the eyelid.
Mascara: Lancome Flextencils in Black was applied to Rossum's lashes.
Powder: Guerlian No.1 Light was used on Rossum's nose and chin and Clinique's Light Glow Powder was dusted on the rest of her face.
Cheeks: Cosmetics a la carte in Pink Ice and Stila in Crimson provided a subtle contour. For extra glow, Cosmetics a la carte's Skin Tint Shine was applied to Rossum's cheekbones and apples of cheeks.
Lips: To line the lips, Shircore used Clinque's lipliner in Apple Blossom. The tint end, rather than the lipstick end, of Stila's No.8 Crimson Bloom was combined with plenty of Mac's A73 Expensive / Ivory Shimmer. (Source)
